| DistFit is used to manipulate particle size distribution data and to fit multimodal distributions to the data,
such as lognormal and Rosin-Rammler distribution functions.
Data Conversion
DistFit is partly used to convert between the many moments and weightings of size distribution
data unique to the aerosol field. For example, a measured number size distribution might be converted to a mass distribution. The measured particle size might be aerodynamic
diameter, yet it is more common to display the geometric diameter. DistFit does such data conversions, including data smoothing.
Data Merging
DistFit can be used to merge multiple component data sets
into a single, composite data set. For example, two instruments might be used to measure different size ranges of an aerosol. DistFit can be used to merge two such component
distributions into a single, composite distribution.
Data Fitting
DistFit fits multimodal distribution functions to the data and contains both automatic and manual fitting methods, giving the user control over
all aspects of the fitting procedure. Multiple data sets in a subdirectory can be automatically fitted and a report of the fitted functions produced for each data set.
Reporting
DistFit produces reports of the data, including measures of central tendency, fitted functions, goodness of fit, and submicron/supermicron fractions.
Respirable fractions, and PM (particulate matter) fractions are planned for a future version. |
